Scientific and regulatory interests in emerging chemicals has increased exponentially in the last decade. The list of emerging contaminants is dynamic and sector-specific, and includes persistent organic pollutants, pharmaceuticals and personal care products, endocrine-disrupting chemicals, microplastics and nanomaterials.
