Mr. Scaramella is a Principal Risk Assessor with more than 15 years of experience in performing human health risk assessments, evaluating indoor air quality concerns, and assessing and mitigating vapor intrusion. He develops and implements strategies for obtaining regulatory closure at former industrial facilities impacted with petroleum hydrocarbons and chlorinated solvents, and supports the redevelopment of urban properties historically used for commercial/industrial purposes. His core responsibilities include the preparation of human health risk assessments to evaluate possible human exposure to chemicals in the environment, quantifying health risks in multi-pathway evaluations, and estimating site-specific health-based cleanup goals. Mr. Scaramella regularly presents environmental risk analyses to multi-disciplinary teams of regulators, consultants, and stakeholders on behalf of clients in industry. He has extensive experience providing technical support for negotiations with responsible parties, interaction and negotiation with regional and local regulatory agencies, and presenting to the public regarding risk-related concerns.
Mr. Scaramella holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
