ENGINEERING AND ENVIRONMENTAL
SCIENCE CONSULTANTS

GSI Environmental Inc. (GSI) is an engineering and environmental science consulting firm committed to investigating, analyzing, and solving complex environmental problems around the globe. Our work ranges from practical solutions for environmentally sound industrial operations and property development to toxicological analysis and management of chemical hazards, sustainable development of water and other natural resources, and protection of our rivers, bays, and estuaries. Our staff combines practical know-how with leading-edge research to deliver timely, innovative, and focused solutions to your environmental challenges.

OUR HISTORY

Founded in 1986, GSI is an engineering and science consulting firm providing innovative and effective solutions to our clients’ needs worldwide. Our strong relationships with academia provide access to leading edge technologies while remaining firmly grounded in practical applications. Through our training seminars, guidance manuals, and publications, we have developed strong credibility with regulatory agencies across the U.S. and overseas. We emphasize careful data collection and analysis and technical ingenuity in all our work to provide solutions that are timely, efficient, and focused.

OUR PROJECTS

GSI has tackled environmental issues on nearly every continent and in over 39 nations around the globe.
We can export environmental expertise worldwide through our diverse team of leading researchers and
multinational scientists and engineers.

COMMUNITY
INVOLVEMENT

GSI is committed to enriching and helping our communities at a local, national, and global level. Many of our employees contribute their time, knowledge, and talent to charitable organizations and make personal financial donations that are matched by GSI. Our staff volunteer in a number of ways that range from supporting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programs in underserved communities to remodeling homes for local disadvantaged residents. The majority of our employees participate in GSI’s annual giving campaign where GSI matches personal financial donations to dozens of deserving organizations. We have been avid supporters of organizations such as Engineers Without Borders, Rebuilding Together, The Posse Foundation, numerous local food banks and more.

GSI staff proudly support TechWomen, a mentoring initiative sponsored by the US Department of State that pairs women leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) from Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia with their counterparts in the San Francisco Bay Area. During a five-week program, TechWomen participants engage in project-based mentorships at leading companies in the San Francisco Bay Area, participate in professional development workshops and networking events, and conclude with targeted meetings and special events in Washington DC. After the program, TechWomen fellows and mentors have the opportunity to reconnect during delegation trips to program countries, where outreach events focus on inspiring girls to pursue their interest in STEM subjects, expanding networks for women early in their STEM careers, creating and strengthening partnerships, and ensuring the sustainability of cross-cultural mentor-fellow relationships.

SUSTAINABILITY

GSI is committed to fostering a collaborative and curious culture where staff can develop new practices to improve the environment for the benefit of community and clients. Our project managers are skilled at developing strategies to incorporate waste minimization, efficient use and conservation of resources, recycling and reuse, and energy efficiency into site investigation, remediation, and property development. Our staff members are pioneers in analyzing and accounting for life-cycle costs, water and energy use, and greenhouse gas generation for remediation projects, identifying the most environmentally sustainable solutions for our clients. One of our key business objectives is to design smarter environmental and engineering solutions, and by doing so we actively improve the health and prosperity of the communities in which we live and work.
