COST-EFFECTIVE ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING AND VERIFICATION

GSI’s environmental experts specialize in developing and implementing practical, cost-effective monitoring programs for UIC Class VI injection well permits that are protective of public health, the environment, and stakeholder’s interests. We also ensure that environmental monitoring programs comply with the federal 45Q tax credit and California Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) programs by adhering to ISO standards and other applicable guidelines.

Under UIC permit provisions, monitoring is commonly required to address three criteria: conformance with the proposed injection plan, containment of the gas within the injection zone, and detection of potential environmental impacts.

TRRP Training: 2022 Program

presented by: GSI Environmetal Inc.

Texas Risk Reduction Program regulations (TRRP; 30 TAC 350) establish consistent risk-based protocols for assessment and response to soil, groundwater, or surface water impacts associated with environmental releases of regulated wastes or substances.

Presented by GSI Environmental Inc., this popular and informative training series is a must for professionals who need a working understanding of TRRP and those needing to stay up-to-date with the latest TCEQ TRRP guidance and policies.

TRRP Training Course (2 Days): Provides an overview of the TRRP framework and step-by-step training on property assessment and response action procedures established under the TRRP rule

Attendees will become acquainted with rules, key guidance and policies covering affected property assessments, protective concentration levels, and response actions. The course material presents strategies for efficient project management in compliance with TRRP and explains the various report forms adopted by TCEQ.

GSI’s environmental experts assist clients with designing and executing site-specific UIC Class VI injection well permit elements related to: i) identifying Underground Sources of Drinking Water (USDWs); ii) characterizing baseline environmental conditions; iii) monitoring groundwater, soil gas, soil flux, ecosystem stress, and/or air quality (if required) to detect possible impacts by the gas injection operation; iv) defining changes in environmental conditions (i.e., triggers) that could warrant investigation/ response measures; and v) estimating related costs for purposes of financial assurance.
In the event a potential carbon dioxide leak is detected, GSI’s expertise in stray natural gas investigations and environmental forensics will aid in the attribution of these changes to either natural variability or anthropogenic impacts, and quantification of the impact to determine what, if any, response measures may be needed.
