

Dr. Becky Twohey is a Principal Scientist at GSI Environmental Inc. She received a PhD in Marine Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, an MAS in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation from the University of California, San Diego, and a BS in Aquatic Biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Dr. Twohey has managed and overseen the development of climate strategies and disclosures for a variety of corporations and communities, supporting compliance with sustainability and climate-related reporting obligations while focusing on long-term value creation.
Her expertise includes climate action planning, climate transition planning, climate risk assessments, climate scenario analysis and vulnerability assessments. She has played a critical role helping clients incorporate climate strategies into their business operations and meet stakeholder and regulatory mandates. With extensive expertise in sustainability and environmental science, Dr. Twohey’s approach is grounded in research, industry and regulatory context, data management, and stakeholder engagement.
Dr. Twohey’s expertise also includes sustainability reporting, including double materiality assessments and transitioning from voluntary to compliance-based reporting (IFRS, CSRD, CA SB219).
She has supported sustainability strategy and disclosures for a variety of clients, from small businesses, municipalities, private equity firms, to Fortune 500 companies. Dr. Twohey has developed and investigated novel research questions in collaboration with various stakeholders, and she has authored or co-authored numerous technical publications and guidance documents on topics such as double materiality, climate transition planning, climate risk assessments, and life cycle analysis.
Dr. Twohey is also a frequent speaker at industry conferences and webinars, sharing her knowledge on sustainability strategy and disclosures. She maintains thought leadership through blogs, peer-reviewed literature, webinars, and participation in conferences and organizational memberships.
