Dr. Smith is a Texas-registered Engineer in Training with GSI Environmental Inc. (GSI). He received his Ph.D. and B.S. degrees in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University in 2018 and 2011, respectively. His Ph.D. research focused on aquifer storage and recovery (ASR), a water storage alternative less prone to evaporative losses than surface reservoirs. In one study, Dr. Smith identified areas across the state of Texas where ASR could be feasible and beneficial using five hydrogeologic factors. In his two other studies, Dr. Smith developed groundwater flow and transport models to predict an active ASR systems recovery efficiency under future hypothetical scenarios as well as its effects on the regional groundwater system around it. Dr. Smith has 2 years of project experience in multiple areas including groundwater remediation, regulatory compliance reporting, litigation support, research projects, and management and execution of a variety of field programs.
