Mr. Hoffman is a Senior Hydrologist with the Montana GSI office. He has more than 18 years of experience as a consulting hydrologist developing and directing complex and multi-disciplinary environmental and water resource investigations for private industry and government clients. Mr. Hoffman serves as a lead expert in hydrology providing surface water technical support for numerous projects across a range of geographies and environments, including international.
Mr. Hoffman’s technical expertise includes the development of site conceptual models, water resources study design and implementation, surface water characterization, hillslope and fluvial geomorphic assessments, impact analyses, analysis and interpretation of environmental data, and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling. Mr. Hoffman performs a wide range of quantitative hydrologic investigations including flood frequency analysis, floodplain modeling/mapping, rainfall-runoff analysis, open-channel flow modelling, hydrograph analysis, and the construction of water and sediment budgets. Mr. Hoffman has extensive design and construction experience including channel design, hydraulic structure design, stream restoration design and construction, wetland restoration design, storage basin design, streambank stabilization, fish passage structures and barriers, and flow measurement flume and weir design. Mr. Hoffman has provided litigation support and served as an expert witness in hydrology and water rights in local, state, and federal courts.
Mr. Hoffman has extensive mining industry experience including hydrology support and project management of baseline studies, impact assessments, water resource monitoring programs, water management alternatives evaluations, and regulatory compliance/permitting strategy development for aggregate, phosphorite, precious metals, base metals, talc, and coal mines.
