

Dr. Tooke is a Geochemist and Principal at GSI office in Missoula Montana. He has more than 18 years of experience in technical, management, and business development roles in geochemistry, environmental chemistry, natural resources, and agriculture.
Dr. Tooke’s professional experience includes study design, environmental investigations, materials characterization, fate and transport modeling, operations and closure support, risk management, and site remediation. Dr. Tooke’s ability to relate to clients and regulators, combined with his high technical expertise, and regulatory compliance experience enables him to effectively understand client needs and provide acceptable cost-effective solutions.
Dr. Tooke is currently managing geochemical characterization, modeling, and site remediation projects. His experience includes the development and implementation of static and kinetic test programs for assessing acid generation potential and metal mobility at various mine sites. He helps clients to identify potential environmental risks from mine development and helps to establish strategies to avoid or mitigate those risks. Dr. Tooke has completed environmental geochemistry investigations and environmental chemistry projects throughout the United States, and in Canada, Central America, South America, and Africa. He provides support for permitting, materials management, regulatory compliance, closure planning, legacy site remediation, remedial investigations, feasibility studies, and technical support for operating facilities and environmental laboratories. Early professional development included: acquiring business development grant funding for agricultural and bioproducts clients; environmental permitting/compliance; environmental data management; oleochemical and food product development; capital project development for an oleochemical company; transport and fate investigations for the pulp and paper industry; and serving as an analytical chemist and quality assurance manager for commercial environmental labs.
