Dr. Farid Achour is a Vice President and Principal Hydrogeologist with GSI Environmental Inc. and has more than 25 years of experience on environmental and water resources projects across the world. His expertise includes Phase I/Phase II investigations and remediation under state, and local regulatory agency oversight. His work includes feasibility studies, pilot tests, permitting, design, installation of remediation systems, regulatory compliance, environmental forensics, and cost allocation/litigation support. Dr Achour provides strategic services to real estate companies, developers, and industry owners that require due diligence or remediation.
He has successfully obtained site closure of formerly contaminated sites by conducting remediation under the oversight of regulatory agencies such as the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) and the Regional Water Quality Control Board (Water Board). He also provided community outreach and public presentations and interactions on behalf of his clients Dr. Achour specializes in optimizing remedial approaches that result in expended remediation and reduced costs for sites impacted with metals, chlorinated solvents, PCBs, and pesticides. He has conducted forensic analysis of environmental data to assess spatial and temporal sources of contamination in relation with cost allocation/ litigations.
He has also conducted several water resources projects across the world. These projects included identification of aquifer overdraft, due diligence for bottling water companies’ acquisitions, estimation of available volumes of water both in porous and karstic media, surface water and groundwater interaction, and climate change impact on water resources.
