Ms. Canfield is a Professional Geologist and Senior Geologist at the GSI office in Irvine, CA. She has more than 20 years of experience in the geological and environmental fields. Her primary expertise is characterization and remediation of impacted surface water, groundwater, soil, and soil gas for real estate, military, commercial, Federal, and industrial clients.
Ms. Canfield’s project management and field investigation experience includes direct supervision of soil and groundwater assessment and remediation, technical report writing, laboratory data QA/QC, regulatory compliance, acquisition of permits, data analysis/interpretation, supervision of remedial excavations, feasibility testing (dual-phase and soil vapor extraction), and field coordination and training of staff level personnel. Additional experience includes preparation of site investigation work plans, quarterly sampling and status reports, feasibility studies, corrective action plans, site conceptual models, Records of Decision, waste characterization, site safety plans, traffic control plans, and various technical reports and Phase I/II site assessments.
Ms. Canfield has experience in both in-situ and ex-situ remedial techniques for addressing hydrocarbons and chlorinated solvents, including excavation, pump and treat, air sparging (AS), natural attenuation, in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO), soil vapor extraction (SVE), non-aqueous phase liquid removal, landfarming, and bioremediation. In addition, she has worked with unexploded ordnance on former military sites as well as the chemicals associated with former bombing ranges and target complexes.
Ms. Canfield’s ability to relate to clients and regulators, combined with her vast experience, enables her to effectively understand client needs and provide regulatory agencies with acceptable cost-effective solutions for site remediation. She has successfully negotiated site closure at several impacted sites with regulatory agencies.
