Dr. Whitehead is a Senior Aquatic Scientist with GSI Environmental Inc. with more than 15 years of experience specializing in the quantitative analysis of complex environmental data sets, with specific expertise in the biogeochemistry of aquatic systems, microbial physiology, and environmental analytics. As a leader in GSI’s Aquatic Sciences practice, she focuses on methods that provide integrated assessments and an understanding of underlying processes to support strategic approaches to remedial investigations, impact assessments, litigation and natural resource damages assessment, and allocation.
Dr. Whitehead earned a Ph.D. in Oceanography from the University of Washington, an M.S. in Biology from the University of California, San Diego, and a B.S. in Biochemistry and Cellular Biology, also from UC San Diego. Her portfolio of project experience includes the use of isotopes as process or source indicators, specialized approaches to benthic macroinvertebrate assessments, applications of genomics approaches to examine microbial activity, and use of unsupervised machine learning techniques in allocation cases.
