Dr. Lauren Fitzgerald is a Senior Environmental Engineer and licensed Professional Engineer at GSI Environmental with over 11 years of experience in environmental consulting. She specializes in inorganic geochemistry, environmental forensics, site investigation, and groundwater remediation. Her practice has focused on environmental assessment and remediation of groundwater, with a particular focus on impacts from Coal Combustion Residual (CCR) impoundments for clients in the energy sector. She also has significant experience supporting litigation projects on the topics of site assessment, remediation, and forensics. Dr. Fitzgerald has led the development of numerous geochemical conceptual site models, alternate source demonstrations, geochemical transport modeling efforts, treatability and pilot studies, and groundwater remediation design for large CCR and industrial sites.
As an environmental engineer, Dr. Fitzgerald has designed and executed numerous field investigations for contaminant assessment under a variety of state and federal regulatory programs, including CCR, RCRA, and CERCLA. As an environmental geochemist, her forensics work has included fate and transport evaluations in support of contaminant delineation and source identification, specifically for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and inorganics, at Superfund Sites and CCR facilities.
