Mark D Mitchell is a Principal Hydrogeologist with more than 40 years of experience directing and conducting water resource development and environmental contamination investigations across the United States. This experience includes development of public and private water supply systems; due diligence activities (Phase I/II ESAs), environmental site investigations under HSRA, UST, RCRA, CERCLA and TSCA; environmental fate and transport studies, risk evaluations; and the remediation of soil and groundwater. Mr. Mitchell has been responsible for a wide range of client services including strategy development, regulatory negotiations and support.
Mr. Mitchell has also been involved with expert witness services for over 37 years. These services have included litigation support, evaluation of technical data; preparation of expert reports; as well as providing depositions. These cases have involved underground storage tank releases, petroleum tanker spills, impacts to municipal water supplies, releases of chlorinated solvents to soil and groundwater and storm-water flooding.
In addition to his work-related duties, Mr. Mitchell has presented technical papers at professional meetings including the Geological Society of America and American Institute of Professional Geologist and State Bar of Georgia's Environmental Law Section Annual CLE Seminar. In addition to being a registered as a professional geoscientist in multiple states, Mr. Mitchell is a Certified Soil Scientist registered with the Georgia Department of Public Health.
Mr. Mitchell started his career as a staff geochemist at the Hanford site in Washington State where he was involved with a project to determine the suitability of the Columbia River Basalt Group as a High-Level Nuclear Waste Repository. Mr. Mitchell was a Principal Scientist/Office Manager for ARCADIS/Geraghty & Miller Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia prior to founding Genesis Project in 1996. During this period, Mr. Mitchell was responsible for a wide range of environmentally related projects, including strategy development, regulatory negotiations and client support.
