Dr. Rysz is an Environmental Engineer with GSI. He received a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Rice University, an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Iowa, a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, and B.A. in Biochemistry from the University of Iowa. Dr. Rysz has over ten years of environmental project experience in academic research and environmental consulting. His expertise includes the effects of environmental factors on the dynamics of emerging pollutants, including antibiotic resistance gene propagation in impacted soils, the fate and transport of genetic elements in porous media, and application of novel molecular screening techniques for the assessment of environmental impacts. Dr. Rysz has conducted numerous site characterization and remediation projects, participated in multi-agency work groups and technical document development teams, provided litigation support, and carried out laboratory and field research activities.
