Riley Garrett is an Environmental Scientist on the GSI team in Austin, Texas. She received her BS in Chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin in 2023 followed by her MS in Geosciences from the University of at Austin in 2025. Her master’s thesis focused on quantifying carbon emissions and biogeochemical changes in thawing permafrost. This research included field sample recovery in Fairbanks, AK, laboratory incubation experiments with gas analysis conducted on a GC-IRMS operating under a self-designed, automated method program, and biogeochemical carbon cycle modeling in Python, constrained by experimentally determined carbon gas production and stable isotope values. Her technical experience includes surface water, groundwater, air, and soil sampling as well as environmental compliance and litigation support.
