Dr. Rhodes is a Principal Scientist with GSI Environmental Inc. Prior to joining GSI, during her 36-year career with Shell Oil, she was the company’s subject matter expert for environmental chemistry, analysis and forensics. Her areas of expertise include development of sampling and analytical protocols for identification of environmentally significant compounds in soil, sediment, and water; characterization and fingerprinting of petroleum and petroleum products; assessment of hazardous air pollutants in process streams; and characterization of gas and produced water related to hydraulic fracturing activities. She has also conducted laboratory audits in the U.S., Europe, South America, Australia and Africa, and has provided regulatory consulting and litigation support services.
Dr. Rhodes previously served as a member of the Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon Criteria Working Group (TPHCWG), the American Petroleum Institute (API) Soil and Groundwater Technical Task Force & Clean Water Issues Task Force, the editorial board of the journal Environmental Forensics and was a team leader in the 2018 ITRC TPH-Risk effort. She is author or co-author of more than 50 publications and presentations at conferences world-wide.
