We are regularly engaged to provide expert consulting services to support both Clean Water Act Citizen Suit claims from third-party environmental groups and regulatory agency enforcement actions. We have successfully negotiated the technical aspects of dozens of settlement and consent agreements and use those insights when evaluating compliance programs and providing recommendations to our clients.
Our staff also have experience auditing environmental programs to identify compliance and management system deficiencies, providing recommendations and practical solutions to meet Permit requirements and incorporate new procedures and training into existing programs.

In response to receipt of a 60-day notice of intent to sue from a third party related to discharges of storm water at an industrial facility, GSI supported the facility with training, new BMPs, a new storm water pollution prevention plan, and exceedance response action (ERA) reports. As part of the BMP efforts, GSI conducted hydrologic and hydraulic calculations to modify drainage at the facility and conducted bench scale testing to design an advanced storm water treatment system. Following construction, the storm water treatment system significantly reduced the concentrations of pollutants in storm water discharges and allowed the facility to return to Baseline status from Level 2 status.
