GSI’s surface water resources professionals provide consulting and engineering services to public and private clients facing important and challenging issues across the United States. We have in depth experience using a large variety of surface water modeling and analysis tools including HSPF, HEC-family of codes, FLO-2D and IHM. Over the last decade, our projects have covered a broad range of areas including:
GSI performed detailed analysis of ground surface subsidence associated with groundwater pumping to assess the potential risks to the California High Speed Rail alignment in the Central Valley of California. As part of our analysis, we modeled the changes in ground surface topography due to subsidence over a large area and evaluated the changes in the flood depth under various rainfall scenarios using the program FLO2D.
Based on our analysis, we identified changes in surface water flow and flood depth along the alignment and the Agency was able to account for those risks in the engineering solutions.
