COST-EFFECTIVE, LONG-TERM SOLUTIONS

With our team our technical experts, GSI is uniquely positioned to provide federal, state, and local governmental agencies with cost-effective, long-term solutions to their most challenging environmental problems.
GSI offers environmental management, risk assessment, remediation, design, and decision support services to our federal, state, and local governmental clients. Our solutions are centered on achieving the most technically feasible and cost-effective approaches for a wide range of problems, ranging from technology transfer and training to investigating and remediating sites with chemical impacts to sediments, soils, surface water, and groundwater.
For our federal clients, we offer multiple contracting mechanisms to access our environmental services, including strong relationships with small or disadvantaged businesses and teaming partnerships with large business entities. We are a proud GSA contract holder, which provides our federal clients with services under Environmental Consulting Services (SIN 541620), Engineering Research and Development and Strategic Planning (SIN 541715), Engineering Services (SIN 541330ENG) and Remediation Services (SIN 562910RMI).
GSI has a long history of supporting the Department of Defense with their most pressing and challenging environmental needs ranging from investigating and remediating impacted sediments, soil, surface water, and groundwater; managing emerging contaminants; explaining complex groundwater to surface water interactions; solving vapor intrusion problems; accurately assessing human and ecological risk from impacted media; using groundwater modeling to understand complex sites; applying new ways to reduce the cost of long-term monitoring; developing new and innovative technologies; and serving on Expert Panels for critical Department of Defense issues. For decades, GSI’s team of technical experts has advanced cutting-edge applied research under programs such as SERDP and ESTCP, resulting in numerous technical guidance documents and state of the art scientific papers to support remedial project managers for the Air Force, Navy, and Army. GSI has expanded the assessment and remediation “toolbox” for our federal clients by bringing some of the most promising technologies and approaches for site management to the forefront through field demonstrations and validation. Under these programs, GSI has developed numerous publicly available software tools to aid in site management decision making. Well-recognized tools such as BIOSCREEN, BIOChlor, REMChlor-MD, the Mann-Kendall Toolkit and the MAROS Optimization program provide easy-to-use, adaptable methods that reduce the overall cost of cleanup at impacted sites.
GSI’s technical leaders are actively involved in state regulatory groups such as the Interstate Technology & Regulatory Council (ITRC) to advance state-of-the-art knowledge of the environmental industry’s most pressing challenges. GSI has co-authored hundreds of scientific publications on such topics as LNAPL and DNAPL management, natural attenuation, management of complex sites, emerging contaminants such as PFAS, 1,4-dioxane, vapor intrusion, remediation performance, remedy selection, long term monitoring, and other key topics.
GSI leverages experience and innovations gained at the federal level for the benefit of our state and local municipal clients. We routinely partner with state regulatory agencies, such as the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), to provide a broad range of environmental services. We are also proud to have partnered with the USEPA and numerous state agencies to provide training on risk-based corrective action programs, and we continue this work through a routine partnership with TCEQ providing staff training on the Texas Risk Reduction Program. At the local level, GSI experts have worked with municipalities and other political subdivisions to solve their most challenging environmental problems, providing services including complex due diligence assessments, Brownfields redevelopment, vapor intrusion mitigation, and management of cleanup sites.
